On St. Marks place is the church of St. Cyril. For almost 100 years the church has been a gathering spot for the Slovenian community of New York. Originally built during the height of Slovenian immigration, the church congregation has fallen in numbers.

The remaining members plan on celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the church in the Fall. They have been in the same location, with the current congregation spanning multiple generations of church goers. Most  of the current congregation have ties to the original congregation. There is a lot to be done, and the planning has only just started.
